Last night we had the pleasure of being the DJ for the Sadie Hawkins Dance at Rifle High School in Rifle, CO. We had a great time providing music for this event. The school also allowed us to test out our new lighting system. Our current lighting system consists of the following items:
From left to right
Comscan LED light – http://americandj.com/ProductDetails.aspx?Category=&ItemNumber=1929
DerbyX – http://www.chauvetlighting.com/derby-x.html
REVO4 – http://americandj.com/ProductDetails.aspx?Category=&ItemNumber=1891

These lights provided for a very nice light show for the dance. We received many compliments on our new lights and we are looking forward to showing off our lights more in the future at weddings, more school dances, and other events.
Providing music for a school dance is fun and challenging for a DJ. The music choices must be newer since most kids are into the music that is currently on the radio. We subscribe to ZipDJ, which provides us with all of the newest music as it is released. This definitely helped with making sure we had all of the most recent music for the students. We, of course, had to play the Sadie Hawkins Dance song by Reliant K. If you are a DJ that does school dances, I would suggest that you pick up that song. The theme of the dance was country and that song is pop, but it is a must play for any Sadie Hawkins Dance. If you are a DJ, it does mix well into Fall Out Boy’s “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark”.
We have a large library of over 18,000 songs, so the requests were not a problem and we were more than prepared for all genres. We also had to use our iPhone connector on the mixer to accommodate a couple of requests. It is nice that we had the ability to play requests directly off of the iPhone of the student. We will always do everything we can to accommodate requests as long as they are appropriate for the event.
All in all, it was a great time and we are looking forward to providing music and lights for future Garfield School District events! Thanks Again, Rifle High School. Go Bears!!
